The Tick and the Cow

The tick eyes the cow.
The cow is large.
She grazes in the meadow.
She doesn’t move much.
Why should she?
There’s plenty of grass around.
The tick homes in
and looks for a berth.
He settles in her armpit
where he won’t be disturbed.
He sucks and sucks
all day and night.
The tick swells.
The tick grows fat.
The cow shrinks.
The cow falls.
The tick eyes another cow.
The cow is large.
